Bikes on Wheels (BOW) occupies some enviable real estate in one of Toronto’s most vibrant neighbourhoods.
Situated at the north end of Augusta Avenue, BOW is a notable feature in Kensington Market’s roster of shops. The storefront is eye-catching with its big and colourful signage, sizeable store frontage and the choir of bikes outside.
Bikes, Gear & Repairs
Upon entry I was greeted by John, who was super friendly and simultaneously answered my questions while attending to two customers who were testing out some very cool-looking bikes.
BOW offers a large number of bikes at different price points. In addition, they have lots of gear in stock: locks, seats, gloves, baskets (wicker!) and paniers.
John said their repair shop is very busy and the turnaround time at the moment is slower than normal due to the demand.
My Chain Reactions
The atmosphere in the shop was light and breezy (impressive on a day with 40 degree weather) and there was ample staff to assist the steady stream of customers.
From what I could see, staff were attentive, personable and easy on the eyes ;)
The last time I needed to buy a bike (3 years ago), I perused this shop on my tour. I think I remember that a series of tune-ups comes with the purchase of a new bike. Check with the shop to be sure.
Definitely a place to check out when purchasing a new bike.
